Mission 2 Celebration

This is an event to celebrate all the businesses created on the Zinc Mission 2 programme, which kicked off on October 1st 2018.

51 incredible individuals joined the 9-month programme to build businesses to unlock new opportunities for people in places that have been hard-hit by globalisation and automation.

The programme brings together creative and diverse Founders from a variety of backgrounds (including Tech, Business, Design, Media, NGOs, and Education) together with over a hundred cutting-edge experts from academia, the public sector, NGOs, and business.

We are excited to share that we have 18 companies in our Mission 2 Portfolio, all of which represent a very diverse group of Founders: more than half of the companies have a female founder; 70% of the Founders are not British-born; and the average age of the Founders is 35 (ranging from 25 to 56).

We’d like to celebrate the fruits of their hard work, ambition, determination and creativity; and thank all of you who helped make this happen at our Mission 2 Celebration event.

Plan for the evening: You will be greeted with drinks and refreshments and have the opportunity to speak to the Founders of our portfolio companies. This will be followed by some short speeches and networking opportunities.

We really look forward to celebrating with you.

Zinc Mission 1 Connect

Zinc’s first programme officially ended at the end of June 2018; but our first mission - to tackle women’s and girls' mental and emotional health - has only just started.

The first programme has resulted in 16 companies which are aimed at improving mental and emotional health through a diverse range of solutions.

These mission-led businesses are all in the very early stages of their journey and require support in various forms, including advice and mentorship, funding, office space, and finding talented and passionate early team members.

At the same time, over the course of the first mission, we have met with hundreds of incredible people with relevant skills, experience, connections and resources, who are keen to support the mission and the companies, and to follow their journey.

Our goal is to bring together these groups of people, all of whom are driven and motivated to make a real impact.

Introducing Zinc Connect

Zinc Connect is a new series of quarterly events helping connect the Zinc Mission 1 companies with talent, mentors and partners, to seed and grow connections.

We are looking to bring together people who are interested in getting involved with Mission 1 ventures through one or more of the following:

1) Becoming an Advisor / Mentor. Are you an expert in a particular domain (e.g. entrepreneurship, investment, research, clinical practice, etc.) interested in advising or mentoring the Founders and their companies?

2) Joining a Business. Are you interested in joining an early-stage, mission-driven start-up in mental health?

3) Working with the Teams. Are you interested in working with an early-stage, mission-led start-up to gain experience through project-based work, an internship, or a student placement?

4) Supporting the Businesses. Are you looking to invest and support the mission-led companies via capital and other resources, such as work-space?

Please join us at Zinc Connect to meet Mission 1 companies and help us tackle this important mission!

We are proud to be partnering with Monzo for this event.
