From Early Career Researcher to Entrepreneur

Many university researchers are remarkably entrepreneurial, but the extent to which they would label themselves as such, or can move fluidly across sectors, varies greatly from one discipline to another. For decades, it has been common for researchers in the life sciences (e.g. in pharmacology) to move between academia and business. This is now becoming increasingly common for researchers in the computer sciences. But this is not the case for all disciplines. For many researchers in the social sciences, for example, the world of business and entrepreneurship is intimidating and unfamiliar.

We are excited to be hosting an event in London (venue TBC) that will bring together researchers who are interested in entrepreneurship and want to find out more, with invited speakers sharing their insights. It will be an interactive and informal session, which will:

- highlight individual stories of 'entrepreneurial academics';

- stimulate conversations around how and when researchers can make the move, including associated challenges and opportunities;

- foster collaborations and connections among a community of researchers and entrepreneurs.

More details to be added here over the coming weeks.

Help Transform the Mental and Emotional Health of Women and Girls

We are excited to invite a wider community of people from a range of backgrounds (including tech, mental health, social innovation, research, business, and the creative arts), who share the drive to create and support scalable tech solutions for mental health, to get involved.

What’s this event about?

The event will include a mixture of talks and working sessions, and has two main objectives:

  • To help you to build a network of connections with people who share the drive to tackle this mission, cutting across sectors, industries, and geographies.
  • To stimulate conversations and ideas that could be turned into real life solutions and businesses to help solve these issues.

We’re really looking forward to having you with us for this exciting next step in our mission.
